Many sweeps later, as Secily was starting to become a notable regulator, Ahlina was kidnapped and killed after a ransom request sent to Corporate was not met. Secily was then assigned a TEMP, [[Mshiri Libeta]], to help her deal with her grief and withdrawal symptoms. Though frowned upon due to their client-TEMP relationship, the two eventually entered a legitimate moirallegiance.

Secily's desire to protect and make the world a better place for her childhood love was partially what spurred her to seek a career in the regulatory workforce.

Many sweeps later, as Secily was starting to become a notable regulator, Ahlina was kidnapped and killed after a ransom request sent to Corporate was not met. Secily was then assigned a TEMP, [[Mshiri Libeta]], to help her deal with her grief and withdrawal symptoms. Though frowned upon due to their client-TEMP relationship, the two eventually entered a legitimate moirallegiance.

She strives to keep an air of professionalism around her at all times and struggles whenever things aren't under her control, even as her inner thoughts expose that she can be quite humorous (and even silly) when the mood strikes.

She is an extremely guarded individual, although there are certain people with whom she is comfortable letting her armor slip—namely, Mshiri Libeta. At times, Secily also has trouble reading people's tones and facial expressions, which can lead her to assume foul play and hidden motives when there are none. His associated alchemic sigil is Iron and his horns are pointed upwards and towards each other, with the right one resembling the light of an angler fish.

Calder is based off of the "Disrespected Royalty" fantroll archetype.

Despite appearing as such, his blood is not the fuchsia blood of the designated ruling class of trolls. It is a similar, but ultimately distinct shade of Magenta.

He was the ninth troll introduced and the third troll introduced in [[Vast Error: Act 2|Act 2]], however he made several appearances throughout [[Vast Error: Act 1|Act 1]]. He was the eleventh troll to enter the game.

The name Calder means "rocky waters" in Celtic. The name Kerian is another variant of the name ''Kyrian'', coming from the Greek ''kyrie'', meaning "Lord".

Calder seemed to once be a rather shy boy, not speaking much to others in this stage of his life. His features are notably much less sharp at this age, having a more concerned expression rather than the sharp glares and pompous demeanor that have become a staple of his older self. Additionally, he seemed much more wary to make trouble, as young Murrit noted that he wouldn't help the children escape their sleeping quarters to go play.

In his younger years, Calder was friends with Laivan and Arcjec and used to be involved in their light-hearted pretend games. Additionally, he was in a kismessitude with [[Serpaz Helilo]], and in a moiraillegence with [[Occeus Coliad]]. All of these relationships have been abandoned or ended for reasons unknown. It is mentioned that Occeus left Calder, leaving him rather bitter about their time together.

=== Pre-game ===
Calder's introduction is full of foreshadowing and parallels as the first full sight of him is with Calder positioned right on his ancestor's thrown, wine in hand. He sits while idly musing if his teammates know what exactly they're getting into- And that soon enough, they will, as his collusions become clearer later on in the comic.

Shortly after his introduction, Calder proceeded to the Grand Fairway to play golf when he's suddenly messaged by his former [[Occeus Coliad|moirail]], demanding an explanation of his involvement in the Game, to which he replies that he had nothing to do with it and both of them are completely powerless in the situation. He abruptly ends the conversation with Occeus and continues playing golf.

Afterwards, him and Ellsee come into contact, forging a tense alliance to better navigate the game, though Calder's intentions are far more selfish than the agreement would let on.

The structure of the land itself seems to have a similar landscape to Venice, Italy with most buildings water locked and the only reliable method of transportation being swan-led boat. The buildings themselves seem to have historical inspirations, with one specifically adorned with stone pillars reminiscent of Rome. The human parallels come to a head as the portrait of a previous void player- A [https://www.deconreconstruction.com/vasterror/2210 human woman], much to Calder's dismay- is shown within one of the buildings, being the gateway further down into the world.

After a tense confrontation with Arcjec, Calder is revealed to be working alongside [[Edolon Vryche]].

== Personality and Traits ==
Initially, Calder appears to be a very self-important troll with a superiority complex and a strongly-implied dislike of women. He is very aware of the social and environmental decline of [[Repiton]], and is such very politically-minded, to the point of cynicism and humorlessness. He is particularly focused on proper conduct and presenting himself as a proper sea-dweller to establish superiority. He persistently projects these ideals onto [[Murrit Turkin|Murrit]], who had once been his picture of what a proper sea-dweller should be like. Furthermore, he sees friendships and connections to be purely transactional in nature.

Being the descendant of [[Ancestors|the troll that decimated the sea dweller population out of jealousy]], Calder is considered a social pariah by association. He feels an immense obligation to do his part to undo the damage done by his ancestor's atrocities and help reestablish order. As such, Calder obsessed with the continued existence of the sea dwelling trolls, and in becoming a leading force on Repiton. He works to increase his influence by publishing the politically-charged and intentionally morally-provocative Sideline magazine, but he hasn't been personally involved in its production in some time.

Calder has a long list of strained and bitterly-ended relationships, quadrant relationships or otherwise. Judging from the old portraits of these old friends and loved ones on the walls of his hive, and the bitterness he shows when reflecting on these past relationships, Calder is unable to move on any of it.

Judging by his previous interactions with [[Arcjec Voorat|Arcjec]] and [[Laivan Ferroo|Laivan]], and his involvement in their games, Calder may have been less uptight in his youth.

Calder is frustrated with Murrit's refusal to behave like a proper sea dweller, and regularly tries to boss Murrit around. Calder at one point deeply respected Murrit, back when he acted more in line with the expectations of a sea-dweller, and Calder tries to make Murrit behave in his old manner, to no avail.

It has been shown that Calder and [[Occeus Coliad|Occeus]] have had a, now-ended, pale relationship with one another. Currently, their relationship is very tense and strained. In Occeus's route, Secily quickly recognizes grandioseSaturation as Calder from his Skorpe conversations with Occeus.

In her thoughts, Secily expresses surprise at the fact that Calder is not a part of her provided suspect list.

This entry contains key spoilers for the plot of Vast Error.

Edolon and Calder, at the time of writing, appear to have a secretive alliance brewing behind the scenes. Calder appears to have full knowledge of- and very little care for- The events of [S] Incursion, and merely remarks that the coup d'etat could have had more 'class' in regards to the execution.

As Calder seems to view friendships as mere transactions more than anyone, he seems to be putting this alliance above the lives of the people he once called friends in exchange for power and recognition that he believes he deserves.

On the other hand, Edolon gains inside knowledge to the events of the game, and through Calder can attempt to manipulate events as he pleases. Time will tell if this alliance will continue to be mutually beneficial.

She was first revealed in the February 11th Trollodex, alongside an [[Aumtzi Maught|unknown troll]]. Her bullet points were:

== Etymology ==
Secily is a variant of Cecily, a real-life name ultimately derived from Latin ''caecus ''(blind, dim-sighted). Iopara possibly comes from Iopara Inc., a wind turbine company.

== Biography ==
Secily first met [[Ahlina Robiad]], the woman who would become her bonded matesprit, when they were children. She recalls the memory of defending her from some bullies in ''[[Snowbound Blood: Volume Eight]].'' Secily's desire to protect and make the world a better place for her childhood love was partially what spurred her to seek a career in the regulatory workforce.

Many sweeps later, as Secily was starting to become a notable regulator, Ahlina was kidnapped and killed after a ransom request sent to Corporate was not met. Secily was then assigned a TEMP, [[Mshiri Libeta]], to help her deal with her grief and withdrawal symptoms. Though frowned upon due to their client-TEMP relationship, the two eventually entered a legitimate moirallegiance.

After she was promoted to Chief Regulator, one of the highest positions she could possibly have in the Corporate hierarchy, Secily was personally assigned by [[Clarud Enthal|the Executive]] to be a guardian and mentor to the newly hatched Corporate heir, [[Sestro Enthal]], and his future advisor, [[Hamifi Hekrix]]. The three would then go on to have a sort of familial relationship, strained over the sweeps by their respective positions and responsibilities within the company.

== Personality and traits ==
Secily tries to project cold, calculating authority and is quite cynical, harboring some pessimistic views on society and its inhabitants. She strives to keep an air of professionalism around her at all times and struggles whenever things aren't under her control, even as her inner thoughts expose that she can be quite humorous (and even silly) when the mood strikes.

She is an extremely guarded individual, although there are certain people with whom she is comfortable letting her armor slip—namely, Mshiri Libeta. At times, Secily also has trouble reading people's tones and facial expressions, which can lead her to assume foul play and hidden motives when there are none. When she feels threatened or upset, she can display quite the explosive temper.

She is also an extremely by-the-book individual, finding comfort in rigid structures and routine and loyal to the Corporate institution to a fault—many s, to her detriment and that of others'.

Secily has a mutation which allows her to recall any face, event or information she has previously learned as she pleases. In Snowbound Blood's narration, this is likened to information being photocopied directly into her mind.

[[Ahlina Robiad|Ahlina]] was, and in many ways still is, the most important person in Secily's life. Everything Secily does, she does for Ahlina's sake; whether it is to honor her memory or avenge her death.

She carries deep regret and guilt over not being able to save her.

=== Yeshin Laevis ===
[[Yeshin Laevis|Yeshin]] is Secily's kismesis. As such, she has a habit of getting under Secily's nerves.

=== Mshiri Libeta ===
[[Mshiri Libeta|Mshiri]] is Secily's moirail, though Secily harbors red feelings for Mshiri. Secily is only known to drop her quirk around Mshiri, who told her in their initial encounter not to play games with her (which led Secily to stop "playing a game" of chess with her quirk). The two met due to Mshiri, as a temporary meditation partner, being assigned to console Secily after the loss of her matesprit. Secily sees a lot of similarities between Mshiri and Ahlina, likely explaining Secily's feelings for her.

Mshiri knows Secily extremely well and can easily read her, despite her cold and guarded mannerisms with others.

=== Sestro Enthal & Hamifi Hekrix ===
[[Sestro Enthal|Sestro]] and [[Hamifi Hekrix|Hamifi]] are (two of) Secily's superiors. Sestro would like to engage in more casual and personal conversations with Secily if it weren't for Secily cutting him short. On the other hand, Hamifi is just as cold as Secily is when engaging in conversation, and doesn't waste even a sentence on anything other than Secily's direct task at hand.

Secily is mentioned to have practically raised the two, though Secily thinks of them strictly as employers for most of the game. However, when Secily learns that Sestro has entered a weakened state from overexerting himself, she's immediately concerned and questions Hamifi's decision not to call her about it. Hamifi soon after expresses that Secily taught Hamifi to not be senntal nor trustful, but somewhat smiles when Secily admits that she does trust her. She's shown to have felt guilty about the way she raised Hamifi and Sestro in Volume 9 of Snowbound Blood, where she watches Hamifi play with children while in disguise.

Secily's relationship with Sestro and Hamifi becomes somewhat strained when she learns the truth behind her matesprit's death, despite their lack of actual involvement with the incident, but rather through association. After Secily's conversation with Gerbat, however, she commits to talking things out with Sestro to sort it out.

At first Secily is suspicious about him and confronts him on hiding [[Ellsee Raines|Ellsee]] from Corporate, but after he elaborates on how much he cares for her Secily decides to protect Ellsee instead, due to them reminding her of her relationship with Ahlina.

During [[Sabine Berare|Sabine's]] route, she is reminded of Occeus and wonders how they're both doing.

Secily meets [[Necron Exmort|Necron]] during the events of Snowbound Blood in Volume 7, and the two shortly after agree to partner up to track down Noxious.

By the end of [[Snowbound Blood: Volume Three|Snowbound Blood: Volume 3]], Secily refers to [[Husske Mayzee|Husske]] and the other barn children as ''her'' kids. She's clearly fond of them, and they accept her too, since she can hear the static in the corn.
